Dental Implants in Higganum
Dental implants have become an integral part of our Higganum dental practice. They offer a natural looking replacement for adult teeth. In addition, implants restore functionality to the jaw, making speaking, eating and chewing easier. Most implants consist of a screw that is placed into the bone, and a post, to which the crown or denture is attached. When finished most patients can’t tell the difference between their real teeth and the implants.
Why should I choose dental implants?
There are several options available to people who are missing teeth. These include dentures, partial dentures, fixed bridges and dental implants. We offer all of these at our Higganum dental office.
Here are some of the benefits associated with dental implants:
Better oral health.
Higher success rate.
No adhesives or mess.
Prevention of bone loss and gum recession.
Sturdy, functional prosthetic teeth.
How are dental implants placed?
The procedure for placing dental implants is similar to many other dental procedures. It is usually performed in two short visits, the first visit being typically an hour in length and the second taking around thirty minutes.
After we have has analyzed the X-rays and determined that a patient is a good candidate, the dental implants can be placed during a routine visit to our Higganum dental office. This procedure will be performed under local anesthetic, very similarly to any other dental procedure.
Once the dental implant is fully healed and stabilized (typically about 12 -16 weeks) the implant can be used to retain a dental crown or help stabilize a denture.
