Lumineers in Higganum

LUMINEERS® are ultra-thin dental veneers that give our Higganum dental patients a dazzling smile with little or no discomfort during or after the procedure. This treatment has been used successfully for smile makeovers for over two decades. The procedure is quick and each “lumineer” is custom-designed to create your ideal results. Natural enamel yellows and discolors with time – LUMINEERS® don’t. You will be able to smile confidently for years to come!!

Why Choose LUMINEERS®?

This veneer system offers you an opportunity to get the smile you’ve always wanted – or restore teeth that have become flawed over time. Here are some of the problems Dr Keith Campbell corrects with LUMINEERS in his Higganum dental office:

  • Minor chips and cracks
  • Slightly crooked teeth
  • Small gaps between teeth
  • Permanently discolored teeth
  • Teeth that look misshapen or stubby

LUMINEERS® are made of translucent porcelain that is very thin. Unlike traditional veneers, these cosmetic restorations can be placed with little or no removal of existing tooth enamel. This means there is usually no need to use a local anesthetic and there is virtually no risk of tooth sensitivity after the procedure. Because tooth structure is not altered, LUMINEERS® don’t have to be a lifetime commitment (although they do come with a limited lifetime warranty). You can try them and see how much you enjoy your smile without worrying about what happens if one comes off years later. In contrast, if a traditional dental veneer is removed, it must be replaced right away to cover up the modified enamel underneath.

Who is a Candidate for LUMINEERS®?

These thin “no-prep” veneers are designed for our Higganum patients who have good overall oral health with minor cosmetic tooth flaws. Since no enamel is removed, you need the right kind of bite spacing to make this treatment work. When your mouth is closed, there should be a small space between your upper and lower teeth. This provides enough room for LUMINEERS® to be placed without scraping against your teeth.

These veneers are significantly thinner and more translucent than traditional veneers. Placed over fairly light colored teeth, they look natural. However, they may not completely block out the underlying color of yellow, gray or brown tooth discoloration. Patients who do need significant removal of enamel to permit the proper placement of veneers may not be good candidates for LUMINEERS®.

LUMINEERS® Procedure Overview

Dr Keith Campbell begins treatment with a consultation and evaluation to determine what tooth flaws you want corrected and what you think of as an ideal smile. A mold is made of your teeth and you select the shade of white that will look most natural. This information is sent to the LUMINEERS® lab for production of your veneers. Because enamel is usually left intact, you don’t need temporaries while you wait for your custom-fabricated Lumineers to arrive in our Higganum dental office

On your second visit, the LUMINEERS® are double-checked for correct size, shape and color prior to installation. A final fitting can involve trimming, shaping and other minor adjustments to make sure the fit is perfect. The upper edge of the veneers may need to be smoothed down to make sure they meet the gum line without causing irritation. The veneers are attached to the enamel surface using a strong dental bonding cement to ensure they stay in place.
